HELP AND ADVICE

Volunteer

Whether you have a wealth of experience or no experience at all, there is a place for you on our volunteering team!

Volunteering with Open Door Exmouth is a meaningful way to make a difference in our community. Whether you’re passionate about helping others, developing new skills, meeting new people or simply giving back, we have a variety of roles available. From supporting our services to providing a warm welcome in our spaces, your time and enthusiasm can have a lasting impact. Join our team of ‘superhero’ volunteers and help us bring hope, inclusion, and support to those who need it most! All we ask is that you are comfortable with our purpose and values and that you will treat people with care and respect and without judgement. In return, we can provide full training, support, references and a warm glow, knowing you are making a difference!

Hear from those who we have helped...

Hear from those who we have helped...

I really enjoy being part of Open Door. Everyone is friendly, accepting and wants to do their best for their community.

A friendly and welcoming environment full of hard working people who are making a real difference and an organisation I’m proud to be part of, even in a very minor way.

People are helped in a very kindly and in a non-judgmental way to help them back to a better place. It’s good to play a small part in that.

Fulfilling, very worthwhile cause which is ever ongoing. Essential and rewarding work which benefits many people within our community

I get as much back from my volunteering as I put in. I get a sense of purpose and enjoy making a difference.

This is a really worthwhile place to volunteer, where a really good level of service is offered to help those who are lonely or isolated or have problems with addiction, homelessness or mental health.

Volunteering gives me a sense of purpose

It’s good fun, great to meet so many lovely people and fabulous to work in a worthwhile & well supported environment

Rewarding and really feel I make a difference

I find I come away feeling blessed by trying to help and encourage our participants and seeing them grow in confidence.

What a privilege to be able to see ‘encouragement’ and ‘acceptance’ being instrumental in the road to recovery for people experiencing so many different life challenges. The craft room provides a safe, fun-filled, motivational and yet peaceful space where people can feel a real sense of belonging. Volunteers and service users all ‘belong’ together, and learn together.

It is an opportunity to reach out to someone in need.

If we were not here, I don’t know where some of our clients could have gone… We don’t refuse anyone.

Something fulfilling and worthwhile which meets a definite need in the community. A very friendly place to volunteer.
